GEFCO receives GDP compliance certificate for road transport of pharma products

23 July 2018

GEFCO received a Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliance certificate from Bureau Veritas.

GEFCO Group, a global provider of industrial supply chain services and the European leader in automotive logistics, received a Good Distribution Practice (GDP) compliance certificate from Bureau Veritas, confirming its commitment to quality management system across the road transportation process of pharma products. The external auditor analyzed the GEFCO quality system and the ability to answer customer requirements in Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Greece, Romania and the Group’s headquarters in France.

The GDP certificate, valid for 3 years, shows that the company fulfils the requirements of the European Commission Guidelines on Good Distribution Practice of Pharmaceutical Products for human use. It reflects GEFCO’s commitment to high quality as well as its understanding of clients’ challenges, including traceability of the goods, thus preventing risks of counterfeit or falsification

The Life Sciences and Healthcare logistics market is changing and becoming more complex. With the volume increase in temperature-sensitive products as well as the regulations related to their transportation, companies need to put more focus on control and security. Failure to do so might represents a risk to put in danger public health and a risk to lose high-value cargo.

GEFCO continuous commitment in Life Science and Healthcare

As an expert in Life Sciences and Healthcare logistics, GEFCO offers door-to-door, temperature-controlled, integrated logistics, multimodal and fully compliant solutions.
In 2019, GEFCO will extend the deployment of the GDP certification for road activities in additional European countries.

“GEFCO has a strong history in the Life Science and Healthcare sector and is fully aware of its client’s stakes. The GDP compliance is further proof of GEFCO’s commitment to supplying secure and compliant Life Sciences and Healthcare shipments and ensuring the integrity of products,” said Alain Vignon, Head of GEFCO Management System.

Earlier this year, GEFCO opened its third Life Sciences and Healthcare dedicated temperature-controlled warehouse, located near London Heathrow airport, UK, which complements GEFCO Air & Sea warehouses’ in Frankfurt, Germany and Amsterdam, Netherlands. Last year, the Group has been awarded the IATA-CEIV Pharma Certification for its Air & Sea activity in Netherlands. This compliance certificate reflects GEFCO’s expertise in Life Sciences & Healthcare supply chain management.
