The operator of a water sanitation project for 5 towns in the Dominican Republic, Vinci Construction Grands Projets has selected GEFCO as its logistics service provider to transport all of the materials and equipment required to construct the sanitation network and water treatment plants.
The door-to-door transport of 800 m3 of outsize materials
Vinci Construction Grands Projets is managing the construction of sanitation networks and water treatment plants in 5 towns in the Dominican Republic. In order to meet the exacting logistics requirements of this project, GEFCO has provided the operator with its expertise in complex flow management and sea and air flows engineering.
Our mission: handle the transport and customs clearance of 20 items of outsize equipment and 600 containers over four years. We also handle the return of part of the material to its various places of origin.
The GEFCO solution
A tailor-made combination of air and sea transport
We have designed a tailor-made solution in response to Vinci's challenge combining door-to-door sea and air flows and the handling of customs procedures.
For sea shipments (GEFCO supplies a comprehensive and integrated service from the collection of the material to its delivery on site.
- FOB (Freight On Board),
- transport to the port of destination,
- Customs clearance,
- Final delivery in the Dominican Republic.
- The suppliers located in Europe deliver the material to the ports of Le Havre, Marseille, Antwerp and the overseas departments and territories, where GEFCO manages the consolidation and shipment to the Dominican Republic.
For air shipments, GEFCO also supplies tailor-made services from Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle airport.
After a series of test operations carried out in the first half of 2014, around fifty containers have been shipped in two months from Le Havre to the Dominican Republic.
